01 Problem
The chapter needed a CTF it owned: one that could run a timed contest for whole teams without falling over or leaking flags.
02 What I built
I led the project and built the platform core: contest phases, team aggregation, RBAC with a superadmin lock, CSV team provisioning and the security fixes. I also wrote challenges across crypto (including the hard “Twin Handshake”), pwn (Foggy Vault), stego (Gallery Drop), misc, log analysis and web.
03 Security notes
Constant-time flag comparison, rate-limited submissions and role checks on every admin route.
04 Impact
GDG PUP now runs its own CTF on its own domain instead of borrowing someone else’s platform. The challenge set gives Study Jam members a ladder to climb, from easy warm-ups to hard crypto and pwn.
05 What I took from it
Leading a CTF is half engineering, half editing: every challenge has to be solvable, fair and impossible to shortcut.
